Medical Records Coding Manager supervises and trains a team of medical coders to ensure medical records are coded with accuracy and completeness. Ensures medical records coding operations follow the latest guidelines and compliance standards. Being a Medical Records Coding Manager maintains required documentation and confidentiality of patient records. Implements processes for coding operations that support the needs of other healthcare partners. Additionally, Medical Records Coding Manager develops and maintains up-to-date knowledge of the latest ICD and CPT coding versions and ensures coders receive updates and training on classification or guideline changes. Is a certified medical coder and the exact type of coding certification may vary based on the clinical setting or a medical specialty focus. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, a related field, or equivalent. Depending on the setting typically requires the Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification. May additionally have the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Medical Records Coding Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Medical Records Coding Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.     We are currently recruiting for: MEDICAL BILLING and CODING SPECIALIST

    The Medical Billing and Coding Specialist is responsible for collecting, posting and managing account payments, submitting claims and following up with insurance companies.

    Responsibilities

    • Prepares insurance assignment form with data such as names of insurance company and policyholder, policy number, and physician diagnosis.
    • Position requires processing of 150-200 claims per day.
    • Contacts insurance company to verify patient coverage and obtain information concerning extent of benefits
    • Computes total bill showing amounts to be paid by insurance company and by patient
    • Telephones or writes companies with unpaid insurance claims to obtain settlement of claim
    • Post payments and denials from Explanation of Benefits (EOBs)
    • Provides denials to the assigned biller for resolutions
    • Researches and resubmits denied claims
    • Reviews entire patient account and resubmit claims or writes off any untimely claims
    • Answering phones, responding to patient requests or transferring to the necessary department
    • Processing medical bills by sending them to patients and insurance providers as necessary
    • Accurate logging of payments received from providers and patients while maintaining current records and balances
    • Maintain current records including billing addresses, contacting patients as needed
    • Collecting co-payments or other fees upon admittance
    • Help patients understand billing and charges for which they are responsible
    • Follow up on delinquent payments and resubmit billing as needed

    Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)- Certification in Medical Billing and Coding a plus
    • Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices.
    • Knowledge of computer programs.
    • Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices.
    • Ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment.
    • Skill in answering a telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
    • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and the public.
    • Must be well organized and detail-oriented.
    • Highly organized with great time-management skills
    • Strong customer service skills
    • Works efficiently in a fast-paced environment
