The manager is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of professional coding optimization, and correct coding on patient charts. The individual is responsible for the efficient, accurate and timely operations of professional coding. In addition, the manager provides effective leadership of staff and timely completion of department activities through exemplary communications skills. As a leader, assists in efforts to provide comprehensive medical and financial patient information to all internal and external users. Primary patient contact is only social. Responsibilities:
Responsibilities Contributes to organization success targets for patient satisfaction. Contributes to the organization success targets for net operating margin. Develops and monitors the departmental budget and incorporates the financial information in the decision making process. Monitors workqueues, productivity reports. Monitors benchmarking data compared to other facilities to determine best practice. Monitors areas and opportunities that could hold up coding/billing and clinical decisions. Monitors Accounts Receivable (AR) that Pro Coding Manager is responsible for. Provides strategic leadership for area of responsibility so hospital and departmental goals are met. Responsible for timely completion of department activities in conjunction with other department managers. Collaborates effectively with other departmental managers to accomplish tasks in a professional and effective manner. Responsible for ensuring the integrity of coding abiding by correct coding guidelines. Assures compliance with HFAP/ACHC and other regulatory agencies. Maintains current knowledge of the industry and area of responsibility. Responsible for acquiring continuing education credits in pertinent areas and maintaining credentials as an RHIA, RHIT, RN, etc. Responsible for staff evaluations, hiring, disciple, evaluations, and if necessary, termination. Performs other duties as assigned. Maintains activity in appropriate professional associations. Assures that HIPAA privacy and security rules mandated by state and federal rules and Hospital and departmental policies are followed to protect patient information.
