Medical Records Director directs medical record-keeping operations and healthcare information management to ensure secure, accurate, and reliable patient information management that complies with data and privacy regulations. Develops policies and procedures and conducts continuous improvement activities to ensure effective and compliant record management. Being a Medical Records Director implements digital technologies and tools to gain efficiencies, facilitate record retrieval, and ensure secure storage. Provides training for medical records staff and information resources to end-users. Additionally, Medical Records Director coordinates with clinical and technical professionals to maintain robust records management systems and manage data for analysis and reporting. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, a related field, or equivalent. May require Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification. Typically reports to a director. The Medical Records Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Medical Records Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Position is located in Dubuque, IA

    Grand River Medical Group is seeking a Medical Records Clerk to perform clerical duties for the daily operation of the practice. These duties include scanning and filing medical records, entering data into electronic medical records and some transporting of lab specimens.

    The ideal candidate will have initiative and be able to perform in a fast-paced environment. They will also display self-motivation while possessing the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

    As a Medical Records Clerk, you will need the ability to use office equipment such as computers, telephones, and fax and copier machines. You will become knowledgeable of the electronic medical record system.

    This is a part-time position, 20-25 hours per week, with no evening or weekend requirements. Typical schedule is 7:30am - 12:00pm, Monday-Friday.

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Locate, retrieve, and process requested health information per established criteria and time frames.
    • Enter lab results (i.e. blood, urine) into the electronic medical record.
    • Accurately identify, evaluate and scan filing to the appropriate patient record, and to the appropriate section of the electronic medical record.
    • Ensure electronic and paper records are released in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, and company policy.
    • Assess requests for release of information per requirements and verify proper authorization.
    • Prepare and mail correspondence letter, including request denial notifications.
    • Transport lab specimens as needed.

    Education/Experience/Skills:

    • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
    • One to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior knowledge of record management and release of health information policies preferred.
