Medical Records Manager manages medical record-keeping operations and healthcare information management to ensure secure, accurate, and reliable patient information management that complies with data and privacy regulations. Follows established policies and procedures to ensure effective and compliant record management, makes suggestions for process improvements. Being a Medical Records Manager implements digital technologies and tools to gain efficiencies, facilitate record retrieval, and ensure secure storage. Provides training for medical records staff and information resources to end-users. Additionally, Medical Records Manager coordinates with clinical and technical professionals to maintain robust records management systems and manage data for analysis and reporting. May require a bachelor's degree. May require Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification. Typically reports to a director. The Medical Records Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Medical Records Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Position Summary:

    This position oversees the health information department for agency and is a key position providing support to the provision of services throughout the agency. This position entails supervision of HIM staff and is responsible for the integrity of the organization's health information while maintaining knowledge of HIM issues and laws. Simultaneously the QI Analyst's work will involve chart auditing, training, monitoring, tracking, entering, verifying, and manipulating data and providing feedback to support quality improvement initiatives. It requires a positive team approach with other departments to meet department needs.

    Directions for Living is an essential services provider. All Directions for Living employees must be willing and able to provide vital support and essential services to the people that we serve in the event of an emergency, pandemic or other disaster situation.

    EDUCATION EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Bachelor's degree human services, or other related field with a minimum of three years of previous HIM experience in healthcare setting, both paper systems as well as strong electronic record experience and 4 plus years of HIM experience and RHIT certification required.
    2. Strong working knowledge of MS Operating Systems, MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint.
    3. Extensive experience in a health care environment.
    4. Three to five years prior experience with and electronic medical record system.
    5. A minimum of two years previous Supervisory experience required.
    6. Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality preferred.
    7. Healthcare experience with quality assurance background - preferred.
    8. Experience in AHCA and CMS regulatory requirements - preferred.
    9. Experience in quality and risk preferred.
    10. Knowledge of DCF Policies and procedures.
    11. Knowledge of CARF standards.
    12. Knowledge of information systems and software applications.
