Medical Records Research Coordinator is responsible for organizing and overseeing the record keeping activities pertaining to releasing and retrieving medical records for research projects. Ensures all medical records are tracked and released according to HIPAA guidelines. Being a Medical Records Research Coordinator may require an associate degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Records Research Coordinator possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. - Prepare and organize paperwork for medical professionals as requested.
- Ensure successful delivery of messages pertaining to medical information for all individuals served.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient, agency, and employee information.
- Ensure proper submission of documentation within required timeframes.
- Accurately sort, audit, retrieve, and file medical records as needed.
- Contact medical provider for proper forms and paperwork required for appropriate care of individual served.
- Set up electronic files for all new individuals served, including but not limited to: labels, proper forms, medical charts, etc.
- Perform various duties including, but not limited to: answering and placing phone calls, data entry and faxing or mailing orders or other documentation as needed.
Requirements for this position include:- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prefer training and/or experience in medical records maintenance and storage.
- Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and the Internet.
- Detail-oriented, good organizational skills, and excellent customer service skills.
