    The Coordinator of HIM is responsible for analyzing the medical records to ensure quality maintenance of patient information and ensuring that medical records are in compliance according to rules and regulations of Federal/State Licensing Agencies and JCAHO Standards. 

     

    Job Duties:

    • Serves as an internal and external liaison and resource between departments, outside entities, and individuals to ensure protected health information is received, maintained, and disclosed in compliance with the facility’s privacy practices. 
    • Manages the flow of patient information as related to treatment, payment, and organizational needs, assists the Director of HIM with daily activities of the department, demonstrates the ability to process requests for information, maintains filing of medical records, is able to access records from storage, and scan records for retention. 
    • Provides assistance to HIM co-workers in all areas of medical records.

    Qualifications

    • Education – High School diploma or GED required. Some college preferred.
    • Years of experience needed – 3 years of experience preferred
    • Computer skills – Ability to: gain training through web-based programs; Computer experience that includes but not limited to Excel, Power Point, and Microsoft.
    • Communication – Must possess excellent verbal skills in communicating with patients, coworkers and visitors.
    • Team work – Must be able to actively participate in a treatment team environment.
