Medical Records Research Coordinator is responsible for organizing and overseeing the record keeping activities pertaining to releasing and retrieving medical records for research projects. Ensures all medical records are tracked and released according to HIPAA guidelines. Being a Medical Records Research Coordinator may require an associate degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Records Research Coordinator possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. The Medical Records Coordinator is responsible for the overall maintenance of medical records, to include ensuring each record is properly labeled, complete, organized, and controlled. Includes Release of Information, Patient Information Logs, Medicare Documentation, Death Reporting & Confidentiality.
Experience with medical records - to include 1-3 years of clinical experience in an office setting - is required. Applicant must possess above average communication skills, the ability to follow directions and type at least 40 wpm, excellent organizational skills, and high emotional intelligence. Must exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 25 pounds frequently.
