Medical Records Research Coordinator is responsible for organizing and overseeing the record keeping activities pertaining to releasing and retrieving medical records for research projects. Ensures all medical records are tracked and released according to HIPAA guidelines. Being a Medical Records Research Coordinator may require an associate degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Records Research Coordinator possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. PRIMARY PURPOSE
In accordance with established policies and procedures, the Scheduling/Medical Records Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of patient visits by nurses, maintenance and upkeep of scheduling records and log books, and the accurate and timely communication of scheduling changes between office and field staff. To provide medical records administration for the Agency, by delivering orders to physicians for signature, tracking outstanding orders, maintaining patients’ physical charts, and auditing medical records for completeness/accuracy.
QUALIFICATIONS
Educational requirements:
1. High School Diploma
2. Preferred- Graduate of an approved program of vocational/practical nursing.
Experience/Skills Required:
1. One to two years of home health care experience.
2. Preferred - One to two years experience of scheduling experience.
1. Outstanding organizational skills.
2. Excellent phone skills; professional verbal communication.
3. Some medical terminology/medical records knowledge is desired.
4. Ability to type 45 wpm.
5. Effective ability to use Adobe, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, etc.
6. Knowledge of common office equipment, such as fax, copier, shredder, printer, etc.
