Medical Records Research Coordinator is responsible for organizing and overseeing the record keeping activities pertaining to releasing and retrieving medical records for research projects. Ensures all medical records are tracked and released according to HIPAA guidelines. Being a Medical Records Research Coordinator may require an associate degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Records Research Coordinator possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Position/Responsibilities
· Keeping abreast of new regulations enacted by Medicare, Medicaid and insurance companies.
· Maintain and file patient charts.
· Ensure the quality of the patient’s medical record by verifying the accuracy and proper entry into the electronic health record system.
· Compile data and information for reports.
· Photocopy records and documents for billing.
· Respond to requests for medical records.
· Answers and directs telephone calls.
· Maintain confidentiality.
· Exert physical effort while maintaining and distributing files; stooping and kneeling
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in health information management (preferred)
· Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Word and Excel.
· 2 years’ experience in medical records in a skilled nursing facility (preferred)
· Point Click Care experience (preferred)
