Medical Records Research Coordinator is responsible for organizing and overseeing the record keeping activities pertaining to releasing and retrieving medical records for research projects. Ensures all medical records are tracked and released according to HIPAA guidelines. Being a Medical Records Research Coordinator may require an associate degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Records Research Coordinator possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Special Knowledge/Skills:Proficient skills in keyboarding, data entry, word processing, and file maintenanceAbility to use software to develop spreadsheets and databases and do word processingAbility to prioritize workflow to address the multiple needs of the supervisor or the departmentAbility to multi-task numerous complex administrative activitiesKnowledge of administration of employee benefits programs and applicable lawsAbility to interpret and disseminate insurance and benefits information to individuals and groupsStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to effectively present information in one-on-one and to small and large groups of employees Knowledge of basic accounting principles
