Medical Records Supervisor supervises routine medical record-keeping operations and healthcare information management to ensure secure, accurate, and reliable patient information management that complies with data and privacy regulations. Follows established policies and procedures to ensure effective and compliant record management, makes suggestions for process improvements. Being a Medical Records Supervisor implements digital technologies and tools to gain efficiencies, facilitate record retrieval, and ensure secure storage. Provides training for medical records staff and information resources to end-users. Additionally, Medical Records Supervisor coordinates with clinical and technical professionals to maintain robust records management systems and manage data for analysis and reporting. May require an associate degree. Typically requires Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT). Typically reports to a manager. The Medical Records Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Medical Records Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.   • We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work as Medical Records Supervisor within the DuPage County Care Center. This position is responsible for overseeing medical record functions and credentialing licensed practitioners, maintaining resident statistics and census information.

     Responsibilities Include:
     
    • Recommends hires and promotions, directs and evaluates employment decisions for all assigned positions
    • Maintain systems for filing, retention and destruction of medical records
    • Maintain security of medical record systems
    • Maintains control over incoming and outgoing records
    • Assures that medical records are complete with all document readily accessible to facilitate retrieval and data collection
    • Recommends hires and promotions, directs, evaluates, and adjusts grievances for all assigned positions
    • Develops, implements and updates medical records policy and procedures
    • Completes admission information in the disease index and updates at the time of discharge
    • Compiles and maintains resident census
    • Compiles and records various resident statistics
    • Manages the release of information
    • Ensures that requests are within State and Federal guidelines
    • Oversees credentialing of all licensed practitioners 
    • Manages and completes (International Classification of Diseases) ICD-10 coding for the facility
    • Procure and manage contracted services
    • Assists/advises/in-services departments on medical record related issues
    • Coordinates and supervises on-site clinical affiliation with local community college
    • Orients and supervises students' clinical experience
    • Represents Center as witness for subpoena ‘duces tecum



     
    Requirements include the following experience or equivalent combination of training and experience:

    • Completion of an Associate Degree in Applied Science, credentialed Medical Records (RHIT), or a related health field
    • Two (2) years of experience in medical records including one (1) year in a supervisor role
    Post-offer physical is required.
    Pre-employment background check is required.
