Performs quality audits of work. Additionally, Medical Records Technician maintains and up-to-date knowledge of coding and documentation requirements. Does not require a medical coding certification. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Records Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area.     Position Responsibilities for the Medical Records Clerk

    Under the direction of the Compliance Director, the Medical Records Clerk at Hospitality Health ER will be responsible for, but not limited to:

    1. Gathering documents and information from paper sources and/or electronic health records
    2. Ensuring medical records are assembled in standard order and are complete and accurate
    3. Ensuring files are stored in the designated area in accordance with predetermined medical record storage procedures
    4. Maintaining HIPPA compliance and upholding utmost integrity and privacy of each and every patient
    5. Creating digital images of paperwork to be stored in the electronic medical record data base
    6. Responding to medical records requests in a timely manner in a face paced environment
    7. Completing daily responsibilities upon arrival and prior to departure of shift (cleaning, stocking, organizing, etc.)
    8. Promoting a positive work environment by communicating appropriately with patients, visitors and staff
    9. Performing other clerical tasks as assigned such as answering phones, faxing, and scanning

    Position Requirements for the Medical Records Clerk

    The requirements for employment as the Medical Records Clerk with Hospitality Health ER are:

    1. Strong communication skills and displaying a positive attitude and passion for Hospitality Health ER
    2. Must possess superior organizational skills
    3. Critical thinking skills; ability to work autonomously and make efficient use of time and resources
    4. A basic understanding of medical terminology
    5. Familiarity and understanding of HIPPA medical privacy regulations and practices
    6. With little to no assistance, possesses the ability to perform basic office setting functions including, but not limited to, sending faxes and emails, using a scanner, and
    7. Must have a basic operational knowledge of the entire Microsoft Suite and Adobe X

    Education/Experience

    High School Graduate or equivalent

    Previous medical records clerk experience in a medical setting Preferred

    One year of medical records processing Preferred

    This position is PRN (or As Needed) and will not be eligible to participate in benefits.
