Medical Records Transcriptionist jobs in Poughkeepsie, NY

Under the general direction of the Director of Health Information Management, the Medical Record Representative serves as the primary resource for the Meditech system. Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to: prepping, scanning and indexing scanned documents and monitoring the system.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Accurately validates computer generated discharge / admission list against the actual medical record and preps inpatient/ER medical records for scanning
• Accurately performs Quality Control on scanned inpatient medical records to ascertain all paper documents are scanned and belong to respective patients.
• Performs analysis on physician documentation requiring dictations, signatures and co-signatures. Deficiencies are entered into Meditech and reports generated for follow-up with the physicians.
• Diligently reviews pending transcribed reports in Nuance/ EMON system, makes necessary corrections and exports reports into Meditech as permanent part of patient chart
• Accurately utilizes 3M Chart tracker/locator system to obtain information and to locate offsite records and other records before the inception of Meditech.
• Courteously assists Physicians with Meditech difficulties in chart completion and other issues if needed.
• Accurately reanalyzes records after physicians have completed deficient reports.
• Accurately sort loose ambulance reports of multi-patients in chronological order and scan into Meditech.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

EXPERIENCE

• One (1) year medical record, medical office experience preferred

EDUCATION

• High School Graduate or equivalent, knowledge of medical terminology
