Understands medical terminology and the use of transcription software and equipment. Being a Medical Records Transcriptionist requires a high school diploma. May require Registered Healthcare Documentation Specialist (RHDS). Additionally, Medical Records Transcriptionist typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Records Transcriptionist works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. - Maintain a current inventory of clinic supplies; monitor compliance with sign in/out logs; prepare inventory reports as required.
- Monitor outside referrals and coordinates transfer of medical records.
- Assist in the preparation of routine medical and dental reports.
- Read and comprehend medical instructions and procedures, correspondence, policies, regulations, reports, directions for forms completion and other simple or moderately complex documents.
