Medical Records Transcriptionist transcribes medical dictation by physicians and other medical practitioners pertaining to patients assessment, diagnostics, therapy, and other medical reports. Understands medical terminology and the use of transcription software and equipment. Being a Medical Records Transcriptionist requires a high school diploma. May require Registered Healthcare Documentation Specialist (RHDS). Additionally, Medical Records Transcriptionist typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Records Transcriptionist works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. SCOPE:
Under direct supervision, assists with organizing, sorting, and filing all incoming and outgoing patient information. Prepares charts for patient visits. Files, locates, retrieves, and delivers medical records and/or electronic medical records as assigned. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/corporation.

High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 5 years' experience, preferably in a medical office setting. Previous experience in a medical records' experience preferred. Knowledge of electronic health record systems. Time Management, Organization, Attention to Detail and Quality Focus skills needed.
