Medical Scribe acts as an assistant during the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Documents and gathers information during the treatment process. Being a Medical Scribe organizes healthcare data to provide better service and efficiency of clinical care. Typically requires an associate degree. Additionally, Medical Scribe may require certification as a Medical Scribe by the American College of Clinical Information Managers (ACCIM). Typically reports to a physician. The Medical Scribe works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Functions as a scribe to ensure complete and accurate capture of medical information as spoken/instructed by the clinician. Assists the clinician in navigating the electronic health record. At no time is the scribe performing independent clinical judgment or direct patient care. Accompanies clinician in all approved patient care locations.
Hours- 8a-5p
High School diploma or GED required.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Human Anatomy, Physiology, Medical Terminology, Nursing, or related discipline.
Six months experience as a medical scribe, medical transcriptionist, or other related job in a medical office.
EPIC knowledge/experience.
