The Medical Scribe works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Job Description
We are looking for a part-time to full-time Medical Scribe. We are seeking a candidate who possesses compassion, warmth, is proactive, and is a team player.
Responsibilities
· Accompanying the physician into the patient room to capture and transcribe medical record documentation utilizing electronic medical records
· Updates patient history, physical exam, and other pertinent health information in the medical records
· Performs other clerical duties and tasks to improve provider productivity and clinic workflow
· Obtains patient results from laboratories and radiology
· Communicate professionally with patients, doctors, and healthcare staff
· Performs other various back office duties (occasionally front office tasks)
· Comply with medical practice policies, including HIPAA guidelines
· Assist with treatment and procedures
Qualifications
· High School Diploma / GED required; College education preferred
· Previous experience as a Medical Scribe (preferred but not required)
· Ability to take detailed notes and accurate documentation
· Proficient in medical terminology and anatomy
· Strong computer and transcription skills (types > 60 wpm with high level of accuracy)
· Bilingual Spanish preferred but not required
· Highly organized, excellent time-management skills, and must be able to multi-task
· Applicant must be professional, reliable, and punctual
· Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
· Excellent opportunity to gain hands-on medical experience prior to applying and attending physician assistant programs (PCE/HCE), medical school, etc. Many of our current and previous medical scribes have been accepted and are now attending PA and medical schools.
Physical Requirements
· Employee is frequently required to stand for lengthy time periods
· Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus
· Assist with treatment and procedures which includes occasional lifting
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
