Medical Scribe acts as an assistant during the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Documents and gathers information during the treatment process. Being a Medical Scribe organizes healthcare data to provide better service and efficiency of clinical care. Typically requires an associate degree. Additionally, Medical Scribe may require certification as a Medical Scribe by the American College of Clinical Information Managers (ACCIM). Typically reports to a physician. The Medical Scribe works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.   • JOB DUTIES

    • Assist the physician with documentation of each patient’s medical chart
    • Accompany the physician into the patient’s examination area in order to transcribe a history and physical examination as given by the patient and physician
    • Maintain patient records confidentially
    • Document work processes as required
    • Effectively cope with typical job stress
    • Communicate on a regular basis with the designated attending healthcare provider
    • Follow and maintain patient confidentiality - appropriate with HIPAA compliance standards
    • Coordinate completion of all clinical documentation from physicians
    • Complete the patient’s chart by entering into the record results of any labs, vitals, History and Physical, procedures, x-rays and/or other evaluations. In doing so, the scribe continuously checks on the progress of this data in order to get the patient’s workup complete so that the physician can close the encounter.
    • Lists all proper diagnoses as well as any discharge/follow up instructions and prescriptions, as dictated by the physician.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:* High School Diploma or equivalent

    • Two years previous Medical Scribe Experience
    • Working knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations
    • Recognition of physical exam process and ability to record exam details
    • Computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn new applications
    • Communication skills and ability to coordinate and cooperate with multiple members of the healthcare team
    • Organizational skills with a focus on tracking patient care and improving patient flow
    • Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families

    Schedule: Monday through Friday – 7:30 am to 5:00 pm.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $17.00 - $17.50 per hour

    Expected hours: 36 per week
