Job: Medical scribe / medical assistent (partial WFH)

Job description:

I am seeking a part time employee (approx 20 hours per week) to help me with the following tasks:

• Perform chart preparation per clinic protocol
• Accompany the provider in all scheduled patient visits
• Document the patient history, physical exam, procedures, and patient plan, as performed by the provider
• Enter medication orders, as dictated by the provider
• Document and print instructions for the patient
• Review completed charts with the provider between patients or at the completion of the shift
• Update provider preference and clinic preference documents as necessary
• Answer the phone and speak to patients, schedule them for clinic visits in our electronic medical record and google calendar. Collect patient’s insurance and contact information up front.
• Schedule surgeries at the hospital and surgery centers around town
• Email quotes for surgeries to patients as dictated by me
• Check patient’s insurance – perform pre authorizations to the insurance companies for insurance cases and ensure patients are authorized to see me in clinic
• Inventory management: log any new supplies into out shared google document; log expensive used supplies to help keep track of when new supplies need to be ordered
• Complete any orders for supplies
• Scan in any new mail
• Check the fax daily for any new referrals from patients/doctors offices and schedule them for clinic visits
• Complete a daily to do list (typically about 1 hour of work, a list of pressing matters for the day)

Requirements:

• EHR Experience (AthenaHealth experience even better!)
• Typing speed of at least 60 WPM
• Available to work ~20 hours per week (Monday - Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm PST)
• Must have a HIPAA-compliant workspace to maintain the privacy of sensitive patient information
• Fluent in the English language with excellent writing and speaking skills

This employee should be an effective communicator, have a positive attitude when speaking with patients, and be knowledgeable about core computer skills and software like excel and the google product suite. Understanding, and having worked in healthcare previously is a plus but not required.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 25 per week
