Medical Secretary - Home Care provides secretarial support to clinical staff in a home care environment. Performs various secretarial and clerical duties, such as typing reports and correspondence, transcribing written notes, maintaining records and files, answering phones, and arranging clinician schedules. Being a Medical Secretary - Home Care may be responsible for entering clinician charges into medical billing system. Requires knowledge of medical terms and vocabulary. Additionally, Medical Secretary - Home Care requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Secretary - Home Care possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Receptionist
Shift: 1st Shift, Full-time
Schedule: 11am-8pm M-F with rotating Saturdays
Job Location: Iowa & Illinois
Compensation:
The pay rate for this position is: $17/hr-$18/hr or more, depending on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and verify identification.
- Complete registration forms.
- Determine type of imaging study necessary for each patient after reviewing patient’s written order and prepare paperwork for technologist.
- Schedule examinations.
- Answer incoming calls.
- Order and maintain office supplies and ensure equipment is properly maintained.
- Maintain the privacy and security of all protected health information (verbal, written, imaged or computerized data).
- Distribute reports to appropriate physicians and outside agencies.
- Be flexible with work hours and locations of job sites.
- Aid the technologist while moving and positioning the patient, as needed and directed by the technologist on duty.
Requirements:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- 1-3 years of prior medical receptionist experience required.
- Proficient at using Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
- Knowledge of ICD-10 & CPT-4 coding, and insurance billing.
- Strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with patients, physicians, and co-workers.
- All new hires are required to be vaccinated against COVID and Influenza prior to starting work.
- Candidates must be in good standing with Medicare and Medicaid, be able to pass all required background checks, and be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
