Medical Social Worker (BSW) provides social work services to hospital patients and their families. Counsels and provides crisis intervention for patients, including assessment and treatment of emotional and behavioral problems related to hospitalization. Being a Medical Social Worker (BSW) participates as a member of multi-disciplinary team and may assist patients in treatment planning. May contribute to the formulation of discharge plans. Additionally, Medical Social Worker (BSW) requires a bachelor's degree of social work. Typically reports to a manager. Qualifications
- Degree/Education - Masters Degree in social work (MSW). Graduate from a school of Social Work fully accredited by the council of social Work education (CSWE)
- Experience - Must have at least 24 months of experience in the last 36 with assessing and providing evidence based individual counseling to patients within a mental health or health care facility.
- License - Maintain a current, unrestricted clinical license to practice social work in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
- Certifications - Basic Life Support (BLS)
