Position Summary
The Oncology Social Worker is responsible for assessing, counseling, implementing, and educating the patient and family to navigate through all phases of the cancer experience.

Core Duties and Responsibilities
•    Provides psychosocial and financial assistance services to patients and families facing the impact of a cancer diagnosis
•    Obtain and utilize medical/radiation oncology distress monitor (NCCN survey tool) to address any practical, family, emotional, spiritual and/or physical problems that may arise during the cancer treatment phase
•    Provide psychosocial services through all phases of the cancer experience
•    Demonstrates knowledge about cancer and the psychosocial and other effects of the disease, treatment and survivorship
•    Assists patients and families with coping and adapting to cancer and its effects in order to help cancer survivors maintain or improve quality of life
•    Assist cancer survivors in navigating through the health care systems to help them achieve quality care
•    Mobilize community resources to provide social and emotional support to cancer survivors
•    Provide assistance to patients and families to meet transportation needs
•    Provides financial navigation support to patients within the Cancer Center

Qualifications
•    MSW
•    LCW or LCSW through NJ State Board of Social Work Examiners
•    2 years Social Work experience
•    Oncology Social Work experience preferred
