Medical Staff Credentialing Director is responsible for all aspects of the verification process for medical staff incumbents. Develops and implements policies and protocols related to physician, nurse and other employee verifications and ensures that the organization and staff are in accordance with organizational and industry standards. Being a Medical Staff Credentialing Director requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a top management. The Medical Staff Credentialing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Medical Staff Credentialing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Responsibilities

    The Credentialing and Medical Staff Specialist reports directly to the Medical Staff Supervisor and supports the Medical Staff department as a whole.  This role will interacts with leadership and members of the Medical Staff.

     

    Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

    • Responsible for credentialing activities for independently licensed clinicians at various sites.
    • Responsible for contract coordination for multiple insurance companies.
    • Responsible for facilities credentialing.
    • Will assist on medical staff tasks as needed.
    • Partners with Human Resources, Patient Accounts and Billing departments to insure proper enrollment of clinicians prior to patient visits.

    Qualifications

    • Post-secondary education required.
    • Prefer at least 3 years of experience providing administrative support in complex office setting
    • Healthcare background is preferred
    • Requires a high level of confidentiality and organizational skills.
    • Familiarity with medical terminology is required
    • Strong computer skills and comfort with most Microsoft Office products and applications (including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word) is required
    • Must have and demonstrate ability to maintain confidential information.
    • Has clerical perception to proofread and edit typewritten copies, file records and use various office machines and equipment
    • Requires strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Must be able to word process policy/procedure drafts, organizational diagrams, letters, develop visual aid graphics and prepare flow charts.
