Medical Staff Credentialing Director is responsible for all aspects of the verification process for medical staff incumbents. Provides regulatory oversight and guidance to the credentialing process. Being a Medical Staff Credentialing Director maintains working knowledge and ensures continuing compliance with state, federal, and institutional standards and guidelines. Develops and implements policies and protocols related to medical staff verifications and ensures that the organization and staff are in accordance with organizational and industry standards. Additionally, Medical Staff Credentialing Director analyzes reports on applications and credential status to identify trends and improve the credentialing process. Presents files to the credentialing committee and may act as a liaison to state medical licensure boards regarding the status of license applications. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS). Typically reports to senior management. The Medical Staff Credentialing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Medical Staff Credentialing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     We are currently looking for a Full Time Medical Staff Credentialing Assistant to join our Clinician Services team located at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center.

    Summary:


    Responsible for all functions related to coordinating, auditing, and monitoring of the review and approval process for credentialing and re-credentialing and for maintaining the appointment and reappointment files of the medical staff.

    Responsibilities:
    • Responds to requests for application for medical staff membership and privileges
    • Processes applications for appointment and reappointment by gathering the required data and performing primary source verification
    • Reviews privilege requests and any required documentation
    • Requests assistance from direct supervisor when unclear about request and/or documentation received
    • Reviews all submitted information for completeness and accuracy
    • Verifies licensure, education, training, and other requirements in accordance with policies and procedures
    • Reviews completed file for accuracy and identifies problem areas, issues, concerns, or new information that is to be brought to the attention of the direct supervisor
    • Assists with ensuring completed files are reviewed with the direct supervisor prior to department chief and committee approvals
    • Prepares files and any required documents to accompany files/requests to Credentials Committee, Medical Executive Committee and Governing Board
    • Performs all follow up required following Governing Board decision
    • Assists with coordinating Credentials Committee meeting, takes and prepares the minutes, prepares the agenda and packets and any other documentation/materials to be presented for review
    • Inputs all relevant data into medical staff e-files and credentialing database in a timely and accurate manner
    • Identifies and obtains current verification of expirable data elements
    • Maintains spreadsheets and databases and inputs data entry
    • Maintains files, logs, and records
    • Maintains confidentiality, security, and integrity of data and information
    • Assists with orientation, special activities and training on specific procedures, tasks or equipment

    • Maintain knowledge of and follow all laws, rules, regulations, policies and SOPs for assigned area, e.g. MICS, TICS, hospital standards, health codes, food sanitation, accounting principles, etc.
