Medical Staff Credentialing Director is responsible for all aspects of the verification process for medical staff incumbents. Provides regulatory oversight and guidance to the credentialing process. Being a Medical Staff Credentialing Director maintains working knowledge and ensures continuing compliance with state, federal, and institutional standards and guidelines. Develops and implements policies and protocols related to medical staff verifications and ensures that the organization and staff are in accordance with organizational and industry standards. Additionally, Medical Staff Credentialing Director analyzes reports on applications and credential status to identify trends and improve the credentialing process. Presents files to the credentialing committee and may act as a liaison to state medical licensure boards regarding the status of license applications. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS). Typically reports to senior management. The Medical Staff Credentialing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Medical Staff Credentialing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Responsible for verifications for medical staff and/or allied health professionals#39; initial appointments, re-appointments, and privilege delineation.
    • Maintains credentialing database by ensuring that information entered is both complete and accurate.
    • Runs various reports regarding:
      1. Accuracy of provider data
      2. Application status.
    • Provides ad hoc support to assist with the credentialing committeersquo;s approval, granting, and ultimately, release of privileges.
    • Demonstrates willingness to be an active participant in process improvement initiatives and special projects to enhance credentialing procedures and outcomes.
    • Communicate with internal and external customers to obtain or provide necessary information as it relates to verifications, malpractice claims, and any other pertinent information.
    • Assists in compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies (i.e., The Joint Commission) regarding credentialing by maintaining a working knowledge of statutes and laws.
    • Acts as a liaison between hospital clinical departments, practitioner applicants, and other external parties.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelorrsquo;s degree in business, healthcare administration, human resource management, or other related field required.
    • 2 years of prior credentialing experience preferred but not required.
    • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS), or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) is preferred but not required.
    • Knowledge of credentialing management software is preferred but not required.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
