Medical Staff Credentialing Manager manages staff that process credentialing and recredentialing applications for health care providers. Oversees department operations to ensure compliance with all regulatory standards. Being a Medical Staff Credentialing Manager implements policies and procedures to ensure that applications are properly verified and accurately uploaded into an online credentialing database system. Analyzes reports on applications and credentialing status to identify trends and improve the credentialing process. Additionally, Medical Staff Credentialing Manager prepares files for the credentialing committee and may act as a liaison to state medical licensure boards regarding the status of license applications. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS). Typically reports to a director. The Medical Staff Credentialing Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Medical Staff Credentialing Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Job Opening Summary
Manages the credentialing and provider enrollment function for Shands HealthCare to ensure that all medical staff and allied health professional staff providing medical care or treatment of patients throughout the Shands HealthCare System are continually credentialed in accordance with all statutory and accreditation requirements and appropriately enrolled with federal, state and managed care payers. Prepares committee meeting agendas, packets and minutes. Directly manages the credentialing analysts in the department to ensure timely credentialing and that all regulatory requirements are met. Serves as a liaison to clinical and administrative departments for all credentialing matters, including audits and regulatory surveys.
Job Opening Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:- Master's degree in health administration, business administration, public health or information technology, or bachelor's degree required and two years of relevant work experience, preferably in healthcare organizations.
- Management experience preferred.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills and an ability to handle multiple priorities and direct the work of other credentialing staff.
- Experience with computer applications, including Microsoft applications and credentialing databases.
- Preferred knowledge in National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and The Joint Commission (TJC) standards, as well as federal, state and managed care enrollment requirements.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:
Employees in this position will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a "non-frequent driver."
NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:- Certification as Certified Professional Medical Staff Management and/or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist preferred.
Minimum Pay Rate - Hourly: $29.03
