     A credentialing specialist is responsible for tracking medical professionals' proper training, licensure and credentialing. Credentialing specialists will also ensure that their employer meets state, federal and other regulations for quality of care. T

    Requirements

     

    Education/Licensing/Certification:

    • Associates degree preferred or appropriate combination of education and experience
    • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred

    Experience:

    • A minimum of two years of relevant credentialing and/or enrollment experience for providers and facilities
    • Payer Enrollment experience required
    • Experience with facility enrollment/credentialing
    • Practitioner Licensing experience preferred
    • CAQH experience required

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    •  Collect, verify and submit CAQH profile data with supporting documents and ensure contracted payers receive updated information; facilitates provider re-attestations of CAQH data as required by CAQH and payers.
    • Support medical professionals, as it relates to collecting, uploading and auditing personal documentation including resume, insurance/liability policies, licenses and diplomas and certifications.
    • Apply general guidelines in determining whether a provider meets criteria and documents deficiencies.
    • Follow legal and maintain knowledge of, State and Federal Agencies, State Licensing Board regulations, accreditation and payer guidelines.
    • Process re-credentialing applications.
    • Compiles and maintains current and accurate tracker with credentialing data for all providers
    • Completes provider and facility payer enrollment applications; monitors applications to ensure timely start dates and no lapses in enrollment.
    • Maintains copies and tracks current state licenses, DEA certificates, health history, malpractice coverage and any other required credentialing documents for all providers and facilities.
    • Maintains provider confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA regulations as appropriate.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Knowledge and understanding of the credentialing and enrollment process
    • Ability to organize and prioritize work and manage multiple priorities
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, management, staff, and contacts outside the organization.
    • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access) and credentialing software
    • excellent computer, data entry and clerical skills, knowledge of business office procedures required.
    • Must possess excellent interpersonal, clerical, telephone and communication skills.
    • The ability to multi-task, deal effectively with a variety of situations requiring judgment and poise is necessary.
    • Attention to detail and organizational abilities are essential.
    • Demonstrated working knowledge of the healthcare and credentialing industry.
