May require Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS). Typically reports to a supervisor. The Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist works under moderate supervision. This includes assisting with applications and verification functions according to established policies, procedures, and guidelines. The credentialing specialist also plays an important role in ensuring database integrity and maintenance of data in the credentialing software.Responsibilities:• Obtains necessary documentation from providers and other sources to facilitate initial credentialing and licensing, as well as reappointment and license renewal processes• Processes applications efficiently and accurately according to established procedures and time framesAdheres to data entry standards to maintain the completeness and integrity of the credentialing database and other data sources.• Utilizes excellent verbal and written communication skills when interacting with providers, team members as well as internal and external customersEducational/Knowledge Requirements:• Bachelor’s Degree preferred• 1 year of credentialing experience preferred• Excellent data entry and computer skills required and possess a strong desire to maximize the use of technology to automate processes. • Detail-oriented person with excellent communication and strong customer service skills required. • Must be able to work independently, be flexible, and function well in high stress situations. • Maintains confidentiality of provider information and performs other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
