Additionally, Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist, Sr. handles and resolves inquiries regarding credentialing information, process, or status. May provide guidance or expertise to less experienced specialists. Requires a high school diploma. May require Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS). Typically reports to a supervisor. The Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist, Sr. works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. To be a Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist, Sr. typically requires 3-5 years of related experience.     Job Summary

    Processes Medical Staff reappointments and ensure that providers are reappointed within a two-year period. Determine if providers meet the qualifications and criteria for reappointment and clinical privileges. Oversee and/or verify all expirables including: license, DEA, CSR, Malpractice, board certification and other certifications as needed. Assists with the FPPE and OPPE process. Update data in ECHO following medical staff approval to reflect new privileges and resigned privileges.

    • Initiate onboarding process for Medical/Allied Health Staff with communication to applicable parties.
    • Processes Medical Staff reappointments and ensure that providers are reappointed within a two-year period. Recognize, investigate and validate discrepancies and adverse information obtained from the application, primary source verifications, or other sources. Determine if providers meet the qualifications and criteria for reappointment and clinical privileges. Flag areas of concern for Department Chairs and prepare for Department Chairperson's approval.
    • Oversee and/or verify all expirables including: license, DEA, CSR, Malpractice, board certification and other certifications as needed and report concerns to practitioner, Department Chairperson and MSO leadership.
    • Assists with the FPPE and OPPE process.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Associate's degree and/or equivalent experience - Required
    • Bachelor's degree in business management or related field - Preferred

    Experience: 3 years direct experience in hospital medical staff services or other credentialing or healthcare administrative position
