Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist, Sr. processes credentialing and recredentialing applications for health care providers. Mails, reviews, and verifies credentialing applications. Being a Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist, Sr. loads and maintains provider information in an online credentialing database system. Tracks license and certification expirations for medical staff to ensure timely renewals. Additionally, Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist, Sr. handles and resolves inquiries regarding credentialing information, process, or status. May provide guidance or expertise to less experienced specialists. Requires a high school diploma. May require Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS). Typically reports to a supervisor. The Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist, Sr. works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. To be a Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist, Sr. typically requires 3-5 years of related experience. The Clinical Staff Specialist is responsible for peripheral duties pertaining to patient MRI/PET scanning. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: Assists MRI or PET Technologist with patient care including screening and other documents related to the patient’s medical record. Assists patient in entering and exiting facilities; Assists patient and family members with concern and empathy, respecting confidentiality and communicating with them in a courteous and respectful manner. Maintains acceptable standards of patient care. Maintains standards of accurate and complete recording and reporting. Sets patient IVs in preparation for injection of contrast or radiopharmaceutical. Arranges to have needed supplies and materials available. Monitors patients during scans, enters scan data into the computer. Records patient histories, obtains waived lab test results using glucometer or Supports and enforces infection control procedures. Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associate's Degree preferred. A basic level EMT, Licensed Paramedic (EMTP), Registered Technologist or Registered Nurse required. CPR certification required. As applicable, valid driver’s license. IV proficiency required. Ability to work at several locations. Strong customer service skills. Organizational and multi-tasking skills. Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs. Local travel may be required. Physical Requirements: The employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions during transport of patients if working on a mobile unit. The employee may be exposed to radioactive isotopes and ionizing radiation or a strong magnetic field. May be exposed to radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease. More than 50% of the time: Sit, stand, and walk. Repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs. See, speak and hear to be able to communicate with patients. Less than 50% of the time: Stoop, kneel or crawl. Climb and balance. Carry and lift (ability to move non-ambulatory patients from a sitting or lying position for transfer or to exam).
