Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist, Sr. jobs in Fort Smith, AR

Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist, Sr. processes credentialing and recredentialing applications for health care providers. Mails, reviews, and verifies credentialing applications. Being a Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist, Sr. loads and maintains provider information in an online credentialing database system. Tracks license and certification expirations for medical staff to ensure timely renewals. Additionally, Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist, Sr. handles and resolves inquiries regarding credentialing information, process, or status. May provide guidance or expertise to less experienced specialists. Requires a high school diploma. May require Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS). Typically reports to a supervisor. The Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist, Sr. works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. To be a Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist, Sr. typically requires 3-5 years of related experience.     Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Entry Level - data entry including documenting all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
    • Complies with all HIPAA and OSHA regulations and policies.
    • Provides basic patient care as ordered.

    Knowledge and Skills Required:

    • On the job training will be provided.
    • Strong computer typing skills required.
    • Check patients in.
    • Answer multi-line phone system.
    • Enter patient demographics.
    • Validate patient’s insurance.
    • Confirm appointments.
    • Enter telephone messages into computer program.
    • Complies with all HIPAA and OSHA regulations and policies.
    • Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines, and confidentiality policies.

    · Ability to multitask.

    · Knowledge of basic office equipment. Faxing, multi-line phone system, copy and scanning machine.

    · Knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Excel and Word programs.

    · Knowledge of policies and procedures related to patient confidentiality.

    · Skill in appropriate use of universal precautions, safe workplace and confidentiality methods.

    · Ability to work effectively as team members with physicians and other staff.

    · Ability to appropriately interact with patients, families, staff and others.

    · Ability to flexibly respond to changing demands.

    · Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices.

    · Ability to communicate clearly.

    · Ability to multitask as data entry transcription and patient care tech. *Will Train.

    · Knowledge of basic office equipment. Faxing, multi-line phone system, copy machine. *Will Train.

    · Knowledge of Microsoft Office - Word program.

    · Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety and patient confidentiality. *Will Train.

    Education and Work Experience:

    • High school graduation or GED
    • 1 year Front Desk/Receptionist experience a plus, but not required.

    Environmental/Working Conditions:

    • Combination of office and exam offices. Exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations.
    • TB test required – will be given upon employment if no previous proof available.
    • COVID Vaccine - Required upon employment.

    Physical/Mental Demands:

    • Varied activities including sitting, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, reaching. Occasional stress from workload. Must be able to use a variety of office equipment including phone, writing instruments, PC, fax and scanning machines.
