Medical Staff Credentialing Supervisor oversees day-to-day activities of staff that process credentialing and recredentialing applications for health care providers. Implements department procedures to facilitate organized and up-to-date provider databases. Being a Medical Staff Credentialing Supervisor administers system for tracking license and certification expirations to ensure renewals are submitted in a timely fashion. Ensures that applications are properly verified and accurately uploaded into an online credentialing database system. Additionally, Medical Staff Credentialing Supervisor resolves complex questions regarding credentialing or provider database maintenance and best practices. Prepares reports on applications and credentialing status to identify trends and improve the credentialing process. May require a bachelor's degree. May require Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS). Typically reports to a manager. The Medical Staff Credentialing Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Medical Staff Credentialing Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Tufts Medicine Lowell General Hospital is seeking an experienced Per DiemCredentialing Specialist.

    Hours: Per Diem. Weekdays as needed. Preferred days include Tuesday-Thursday between the hours of 7am-5pm availability.

    Location: Remote

    Job Overview

    This position provides administrative and credentialing support for the hospital. Assists with all medical staff requirements and maintains records and systems that result in efficient program operation. Supports the credentialing process, including the processing of new applications, requests for temporary privileges, and reappointments.

    Job Description

    Minimum Qualifications:

    1. High school diploma or equivalent.

    2. Two (2) years of credentialing and privileging or provider enrollment experience in a hospital setting OR Four (4) years of experience in a Credentials Verification Organization (CVO).

    Preferred Qualifications:

    1. Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM).

    2. Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS).

    Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

    1. Coordinates the credentialing and/or privileging process for medical staff including (but not limited to) appointments, reappointments and changes in privileges.

    2. Verifies competence, medical and/or professional education, residency, internships, fellowships, additional formal training, relevant board certifications, health care affiliations, work history, military experiences, professional references, licensure and certifications, DEA certificates, malpractice coverage and privileges the applicant is requesting.

    3. Queries the National Practitioner Data Bank as appropriate.

    4. Manages expiring documents as appropriate.

    5. Maintains the credentialing database assuring accuracy and completeness.

    6. Acts as a liaison between the medical staff and other departments of the hospital and provides assistance in the coordination of the duties of the medical staff.

    7. Presents completed files to the Database Manager/Project Specialist for review and disposition.

    8. Develops sound understanding of MD Staff database data entry and reporting procedures.

    9. Inputs information and conducts audits of the information to ensure its completeness and accuracy.

    10. Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of privileging database and maintains provider privileges as appropriate.

    11. Independently prepares electronic packets for Credentials Committee as requested.

    12. Maintains a working knowledge of the Medical Staff Bylaws and applicable Hospital policies to ensure the medical staff's compliance with stated parameters.

    13. Assists with the PPE process, including both Focused and Ongoing PPE's.
