Medical Technologist (ASCP) performs diagnostic testing on patient samples to aid physicians in the diagnosis and/or monitoring of various disease states. Follows standardized procedures and helps prepare samples for testing. Being a Medical Technologist (ASCP) analyzes test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits. Requires a bachelor's degree and must be a certified medical technologist. Additionally, Medical Technologist (ASCP) typically reports to a manager or supervisor. Position Summary
Under general supervision, the Histology Technician performs all laboratory procedures as required according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures
Core Responsibilities
• Performs tests in a timely manner. Maintains standard in stat testing-both in and out patient.
• Has ability to coordinate simultaneous tests/procedures accurately.
• Performs and documents QC accurately.
• Consistently determines acceptability/integrity of specimens.
• Maintains safe/clean work area.
• Produces and reports accurate results.
• Performs maintenance troubleshooting effectively.
• Correctly and safely embeds, cuts, labels and stains tissue specimens.
• Correctly coverslips and labels all slides.
• Accurately files all slides and blocks.
• Consistently demonstrates teamwork.
• Prioritizes workload based on volume
Minimum Requirements
• Associates Degree and HT (ASCP) or HLT (ASCP) Certification, or eligible
• Intermediate computer skills, excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods with the ability to lift, push and pull
• Knowledge of medical terminology, as well as computer proficiency, with excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
• 2 to 4 years of experience as a Histology technician
• Experience in immunohistochemical staining and Cytology Preparation
