Medical Technologist (ASCP) performs diagnostic testing on patient samples to aid physicians in the diagnosis and/or monitoring of various disease states. Follows standardized procedures and helps prepare samples for testing. Being a Medical Technologist (ASCP) analyzes test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits. Requires a bachelor's degree and must be a certified medical technologist. Additionally, Medical Technologist (ASCP) typically reports to a manager or supervisor. EDUCATION
Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent with MLS/ MT (ASCP) certification or equivalent or eligibility.
EXPERIENCE
One (1) to two (2) years' experience in an accredited Clinical Laboratory preferred.
LICENSURE
MLS/MT (ASCP) certification or equivalent or eligibility
SPECIAL SKILLS
Working knowledge of equipment, instrumentation, and materials used in a Clinical Laboratory. Efficiency in word processing applications, spreadsheet design/utilization, and use web based resources. Basic knowledge of laboratory information systems. Must possess excellent communication skills and ability to communicate in an effective and professional manner with hospital staff. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. The ability to work as a member of a team is essential.
