Medical Technologist - Hematology performs a variety of blood tests, studies morphology of blood constituents and performs various coagulation tests to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Conducts technical procedures related to the counting and identification of blood cells and other specialized hematologic tests. Being a Medical Technologist - Hematology verifies accuracy of findings, identifies test inconsistencies, and takes appropriate action to make corrections and resolve problems. Operates, cleans, and maintains laboratory equipment used in blood analysis and procedures. Additionally, Medical Technologist - Hematology may perform urinalysis studies. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or supervisor. Typically requires an American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or its equivalent. May require a state license to practice. Medical Technologist - Hematology's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     Position Overview:

    The System Director of Hematology/Oncology is responsible for the direction and leadership of operational, financial, programmatic and personnel activities for the service line. The System Director will be instrumental in identifying, developing, and implementing strategic and tactical initiatives to advance the mission of Cayuga Health's Cancer Center and hematology/oncology services across the system of care.

    What you'll do:

    • The System Director is responsible to direct operations for all Cancer Center departments and across all locations
    • This position ensures that services are developed, supported, and financially viable
    • This position is accountable to ensure systems of care meet regulatory, quality, and compliance standards of accreditation granting agencies
    • Major areas of influence include service delivery, patient experience, physician and employee satisfaction, and alignment of comprehensive and complex systems
    • Participates in the development and execution of strategic and operational plans related to oncology services
    • Prepares annual capital and operating budgets; monitors expenditures and works with managers to ensure efficiencies within the departments of the cancer program
    • Maintains close collaboration with all departments and clinical areas to ensure streamlined operations of patient care activities
    • Oversees oncology support services; develops and implements professional and public education programs; and collaborates with community agencies as appropriate to promote cancer screening and outreach.
    • Monitors program activities and physician participation, recording and reporting statistical data, including financial data to determine levels of participation and identify areas for improvement
    • Assists in and collaborates with marketing to develop and implement marketing plans.
    • Ensure compliance with contracts including equipment, service, and maintenance

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree required
    • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, oral and written communication and interpersonal skills required

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's degree in Management, Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Public Health or related field preferred
    • Prefer at least seven (7) years of management experience in health care and a minimum of five (5) years' experience specific to areas related to cancer care services
    • Established track record of success in health service administration responsibilities that include building strong medical staff relationships, provision of human resource development plans, navigating health care growth and services project planning, finance and reimbursement

    Travel Requirements:

    • Oversight for 6 sites
