Medical Technologist - Hematology performs a variety of blood tests, studies morphology of blood constituents and performs various coagulation tests to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Conducts technical procedures related to the counting and identification of blood cells and other specialized hematologic tests. Being a Medical Technologist - Hematology verifies accuracy of findings, identifies test inconsistencies, and takes appropriate action to make corrections and resolve problems. Operates, cleans, and maintains laboratory equipment used in blood analysis and procedures. Additionally, Medical Technologist - Hematology may perform urinalysis studies. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or supervisor. Typically requires an American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or its equivalent. May require a state license to practice. Medical Technologist - Hematology's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. LifeShare Blood Center is seeking a Medical Technologist to join our immunohematology reference laboratory (IRL) team. The Med Tech will be responsible for specimen processing, testing, and reporting in accordance with our quality control policies and CLIA regulations.
Under moderate supervision, the Med Tech will: perform routine serological testing (blood typing, antibody screening, antibody identification, antigen typing, and compatibility testing), evaluate and interpret results, complete documentation, coordinate as needed with LifeShare’s other laboratories, communicate with requesting facility to assist with appropriate transfusion therapy, participate in Quality Assurance activities (quality control testing, recognize and report deviations from SOPs), maintain equipment, troubleshoot unexpected testing problems or equipment malfunctions, and perform proficiency testing.

Beginning rate of pay is $28.00 – 32.00/hr, commensurate with experience.
