Medical Technologist - Hematology jobs in Bridgeport, CT
Medical Technologist - Hematology performs a variety of blood tests, studies morphology of blood constituents and performs various coagulation tests to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Conducts technical procedures related to the counting and identification of blood cells and other specialized hematologic tests. Being a Medical Technologist - Hematology verifies accuracy of findings, identifies test inconsistencies, and takes appropriate action to make corrections and resolve problems. Operates, cleans, and maintains laboratory equipment used in blood analysis and procedures. Additionally, Medical Technologist - Hematology may perform urinalysis studies. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or supervisor. Typically requires an American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or its equivalent. May require a state license to practice. Medical Technologist - Hematology's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport has more than 3,200 employees. Chemistry and Hematology Manager
Job Summary:
- Manages the daily operations of the Laboratory.
Responsibilities:
- Develops specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
- Develops and implements policies, procedures, standards and initiatives.
- Manages staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction
- Monitors departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, and vendor relations. Determines and justifies needs for equipment purchases.
- Participates in the education and instruction of students, employees, patients and other personnel as needed.
- Serves as the technical expert in primary area of clinical responsibility.
- Oversees all OC activities and reports, and is part of department specific QA
- Evaluates and implements new equipment and procedures.
- Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
Required Credential(s):
- Certified Clinical Medical Technologist (ASCP) credentialed from the American
Society of Clinical Pathologists obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Education:
- BA or BS: Medical Technology
Work Experience:
- 5 years clinical lab, 3 years in section / speciality .
