Medical Technologist - Hematology performs a variety of blood tests, studies morphology of blood constituents and performs various coagulation tests to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Conducts technical procedures related to the counting and identification of blood cells and other specialized hematologic tests. Being a Medical Technologist - Hematology verifies accuracy of findings, identifies test inconsistencies, and takes appropriate action to make corrections and resolve problems. Operates, cleans, and maintains laboratory equipment used in blood analysis and procedures. Additionally, Medical Technologist - Hematology may perform urinalysis studies. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or supervisor. Typically requires an American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or its equivalent. May require a state license to practice. Medical Technologist - Hematology's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     Job Summary

    The Department of Internal Medicine is seeking a Program Coordinator to join the division of Hematology and Oncology. This role will provide support to the Director of Clinical Research in the division/Associate Director of Clinical Research for the Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center. This role will oversee daily administrative and logistics for the success of clinical research in the division, managing travel coordination, conference registrations, travel reimbursements, and calendar management. In addition, this role will generate financial reports and records, creating business plans around the clinical research infrastructure. This role will coordinate clinical research updates to the division/department, maintaining consistent communication between the division/department and cancer center. This role will foster a positive, collaborative work environment. The successful candidate would demonstrate experience in coordinating activities and events, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner, have a knowledge of bookkeeping and budgeting processes, and understand procedures that increase efficiency.

    Experience and Education

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Education/Social Science, or related field, and at least five (5) years' experience in appropriate field required.
    • May consider additional years of experience in lieu of education. 

    Job Duties

    • Analyzes, coordinates, and evaluates program operation and procedures.
    • Develops or oversees development of budget for program.
    • Develops, cultivates, and maintains working relationships with internal/external departments/agencies and other organizations associated with and/or receiving benefit from program.
    • Establishes program goals and objectives and directs program evaluation and quality control activities; develops and/or approves schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals.
    • Plans and coordinates special events.
    • Participates in conferences. 
    • Presents data and program information. 
    • Responsible for design, execution, and effectiveness of system of internal controls, which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded, and financial information is reliable.
    • Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
    • Reads literature and attends functions to keep abreast of relevant scientific and technical developments related to program. 
    • May provide supervision to staff members.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
