Medical Technologist - Hematology performs a variety of blood tests, studies morphology of blood constituents and performs various coagulation tests to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Conducts technical procedures related to the counting and identification of blood cells and other specialized hematologic tests. Being a Medical Technologist - Hematology verifies accuracy of findings, identifies test inconsistencies, and takes appropriate action to make corrections and resolve problems. Operates, cleans, and maintains laboratory equipment used in blood analysis and procedures. Additionally, Medical Technologist - Hematology may perform urinalysis studies. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or supervisor. Typically requires an American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or its equivalent. May require a state license to practice. Medical Technologist - Hematology's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Position Summary:Performs routine laboratory tests in various sections of the laboratory.
Reports to: Supervisor or Manager
FLSA: Non-exempt

Performs quality control testing.
Maintains supplies needed for performance of tests.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree in medical technology, chemical, physical, or biological scienceRequired Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications:
Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
