Medical Technologist - Hematology jobs in Seattle, WA

Medical Technologist - Hematology performs a variety of blood tests, studies morphology of blood constituents and performs various coagulation tests to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Conducts technical procedures related to the counting and identification of blood cells and other specialized hematologic tests. Being a Medical Technologist - Hematology verifies accuracy of findings, identifies test inconsistencies, and takes appropriate action to make corrections and resolve problems. Operates, cleans, and maintains laboratory equipment used in blood analysis and procedures. Additionally, Medical Technologist - Hematology may perform urinalysis studies. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or supervisor. Typically requires an American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or its equivalent. May require a state license to practice. Medical Technologist - Hematology's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington is recruiting a BE/BC Hematologist - Medical Oncologist with strong interest in GI or benign and malignant hematology to join our growing team.

    Responsibilities

     

    • Multi-specialty, hospital based practice in downtown Seattle 
    • Multidisciplinary cancer care team in both GI and hematology
    • Clinical research collaboration with Benaroya Research Institute 
    • 28 chemotherapeutic and biologic infusion chairs 
    • 1:9 weekend call

    Qualifications

    • BE/BC in Hematology/Oncology 
    • Strong clinical interest in either GI oncology or benign/malignant hematology
    • 2 years of experience preferred 
    • Ability to obtain a medical professional license in the State of WA 
    • Ability to obtain a DEA with full prescriptive authority needed for specific practice
