Medical Technologist - Microbiology jobs in Fargo, ND

Medical Technologist - Microbiology performs a variety of microbiological procedures in order to cultivate, isolate and identify microorganisms in skin scrapings, exudates, body fluids and surgical specimens. Conducts routine and specialized microbiological procedures, including virological, mycological, bacteriological, and parasitological assays for use in diagnosing and treating disease. Being a Medical Technologist - Microbiology verifies accuracy of findings, identifies test inconsistencies, and takes appropriate action to make corrections and resolve problems. Operates, cleans, and maintains laboratory equipment used in microbiological analysis and procedures. Additionally, Medical Technologist - Microbiology requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Typically requires an American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or its equivalent. May require a state license to practice. Medical Technologist - Microbiology's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement.     Avera St. Luke's Hospital is looking for a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our Team!

    This position may be eligible for a $10,000 sign on bonus with a 2 year commitment.

    This position is eligible for Avera's Student Loan Repayment program which helps you pay off your student loans and save money. Each month an extra payment of $167 (up to $10,000 from Avera will help pay down your principal balance faster.

    This position may be eligible for a $2,500 relocation bonus.

    • Perform a broad range of laboratory testing in a hospital setting.

    Job Summary
    • Staff will be expected to work in the microbiology section primarily with plate reading and culture setup.
    • Responsible for supplying inventory, quality control, reagent preparation, etc.
    • Initiate and follow through with corrective action as well as manages workflow.
    • Communicate laboratory data and pertinent technical information to appropriate departments, healthcare providers and individuals in both verbal and electronic means.
    • Participate in development of procedures, protocols, lab manuals, new instrumentation, lab CQI or other activities as assigned.
    Education and/or Experience
    • Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited two-year college program or technical school is required.
    • Six months to one year of related experience or training is preferred.
    Licensure/Certification/Registration
    • Certification as Medical Laboratory Technician from the ASCP, AMT, or equivalent required within 12 months of hire.
    Work Schedule
    • Day Shifts; 72hours 2 weeks
      • 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, 9:30 am - 6:00 pm
      • Every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation
    Pay

    The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
    • $22.00 - $31.75 per hour
