Medical Technologist - Microbiology performs a variety of microbiological procedures in order to cultivate, isolate and identify microorganisms in skin scrapings, exudates, body fluids and surgical specimens. Conducts routine and specialized microbiological procedures, including virological, mycological, bacteriological, and parasitological assays for use in diagnosing and treating disease. Being a Medical Technologist - Microbiology verifies accuracy of findings, identifies test inconsistencies, and takes appropriate action to make corrections and resolve problems. Operates, cleans, and maintains laboratory equipment used in microbiological analysis and procedures. Additionally, Medical Technologist - Microbiology requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Typically requires an American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or its equivalent. May require a state license to practice. Under the direction of the Associate Director of Radiology and the clinical direction of the Radiologists, provides radiologic care to patients for the purpose of diagnosis and/or treatment of anatomic and physiologic disorders. . Perform all routine radiographic procedures and assist in fluoroscopy. Demonstrate anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning, image identification, technique selection, administration of contrast media, application of immobilization and radiation protection devices according to department policy and procedures. Receive requisition, checking for special instructions from the requesting physician. Ensure appropriate clinical history on requisition. Consult with radiologist as necessary. Pleasantly greet patients, confirming their identification and introducing self. Completely explain examination procedure to the patient, and the patient's family if present. Using a standardized form, routinely question patient before contrast injection as to possible contraindications. Document all relevant information. Question female patients as to pregnancy status and document appropriately. May inject contrast media to patients under direction of a Radiologist, providing there has been demonstration of appropriate training and skills to the satisfaction of the department chair.
Qualifications: Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology. One year experience in a hospital setting preferred. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or Registry eligible - obtain within 90 days of hire date, preferred; obtain registration within one year of hire date, required. New Hampshire Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy License – current New Graduate must be registered with the New Hampshire Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy, and obtain licensure within one year of graduation.
CPR certification must be acquired and maintained within three months of hire date and maintained bi- annually.
