Automotive Service Advisors / Service Writers perform vehicle walk-around and documentation of customer concerns to enable the Technician to properly diagnose and service the vehicle
Consult with customers on applicable service specials
Service Advisors prioritize required services and be prepared to provide options upon request
Document declines for services and asks for follow-up on future service considerations
Keep customer informed on completion times, service expenses, and possible changes
Service Advisors remain involved with the delivery of the vehicle to the customer upon completion to ensure all customer concerns can be addressed. Test drives the vehicle with the customer as needed to confirm the problem or refer to the Test Technician
Provide concierge support for all owner inquiries, whether by phone or in person, to assure the customer does not get mishandled
Spend quality time building relationships with the customers
Know the product well enough to answer characteristic and operational questions regarding the customer’s vehicle.
Schedules service appointments in the appropriate systems
Obtain customer and vehicle data prior to their arrival.
Greet customers on the service drive in a timely, friendly manner and obtain vehicle information
Refer to service history, inspect vehicles, and recommend additional needed service
Advise customers on the care of their cars and the value of maintaining their vehicles in according to the manufacturer's specifications.
Provide a complete and accurate written cost estimate for labor and parts
Establish the customer's method of payment. Obtains credit approval, if necessary
Check on the progress of repair throughout the day. Contact customers regarding any changes in the estimate or promised time; explain the cost and time requirements in detail and get proper authorization before any additional repairs are performed
Review repair orders to ensure that work is completed and additional work and authorization are noted. Keeps service department forms, menus, and pricing guides up-to-date
Explain completed work and all charges to customers
Follow the established quality control process to eliminate comebacks
