Meeting/Event Director directs the overall planning and strategy for live or virtual meetings and events for an organization. Defines the goals, success metrics, and messaging for events. Being a Meeting/Event Director implements best practices and develops planning standards, policies. and procedures. Additionally, Meeting/Event Director develops a network of vendors. Approves the final selection of venues, catering, technology, and other event support services. Reviews and approves contracts and has overall responsibility for ensuring events stay within budget. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Meeting/Event Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.   • We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Executive Director to lead our organization. As the Executive Director, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of our operations and providing senior leadership to our team. This is a strategic role that requires strong project management skills, business development expertise, and the ability to negotiate effectively.

    For over 40 years, Hospice of Ukiah has provided free, unrestricted Hospice and Palliative Care to anyone in need, particularly for those not qualifying for insurance-based hospice services. Our business model is sustained by the support of donors, fundraising efforts, a retail thrift store, bequests and volunteers. We are highly regarded by the community and our agency partners.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    In partnership with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the following:

    • Manage daily operations
    • Oversee supervision of health care team, volunteers and retail store staff
    • Adhere to and improve upon programmatic and organizational structure
    • Implement fiscal management system and prepare annual budget
    • Manage financial resources, fundraising efforts, donors, grants and gifts
    • Represent Hospice of Ukiah to the community and maintain impactful relationships with staff, clients, volunteers, community stakeholders and partners
    • Oversee written and verbal external communications

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and/or a minimum of 3 years of equivalent nonprofit management including administration, fundraising, budgeting, event planning and organization, communications, public relations and marketing.

    Personal vehicle, clean driving record and clear background check required.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    Day to Day Operations:

    • Oversee the efficient day to day administration of Hospice of Ukiah.
    • Prepare budgets and manage financial resources utilizing standard accounting practices.
    • Monitor fiscal health, ensure financial safeguards are in place and work towards a balanced budget.
    • Advise Board of Directors on all organizational activities.
    • Prepare agendas and reports for Board and Ad Hoc committee meetings.
    • Advise and be prepared to assist program managers with hiring, performance evaluations and termination. Keep job descriptions and expectations up to date.
    • Manage the content, publishing and distribution of monthly newsletter.
    • Oversee staff and client compliance with health and safety, privacy and agency regulations
    • Oversee sales and staffing at Hospice of Ukiah Thrift & Gift.
    • Ensure timely filing, compliance with and storage of legal documents including insurance policies, taxes, licenses and fees.

    Donor/Fundraising Functions

    • Work with Board on development and management of a multi-tiered fundraising program including the development and implementation of a robust donor recruitment plan, solicitation strategy, major gift and philanthropy pipeline.
    • Develop and maintain impactful donor relationships. Expand donor base, bequests and charitable giving program.
    • Maintain a current, accurate customer and donor database
    • Manage existing grants and prepare financial reports.
    • Ensure regular, personal, and meaningful interactions with donors and prospects through written communication, face-to-face meetings and recognition events.
    • Oversee receipt and ensure timely acknowledgement of cash gifts, pledges, auction items, in-kind items and donations.
    • Plan and execute fundraising events. With Board, initiate event sponsorships and pledges.
    • Work with community partners to promote Hospice of Ukiah Mission.
