  • The Sexual Assault Resource Center (SARC) is a non-profit agency that has been serving the Brazos Valley Community since 1983. The mission of the Sexual Assault Resource Center is to support survivors of sexual violence through advocacy, counseling, and crisis intervention and work to end sexual violence in the Brazos Valley.

    Job Description

    The Director of Advocacy is responsible for the on-going program operations of the Sexual Assault Resource Center to directly support SARC’s mission including developing, implementing, and evaluating the Crisis Intervention and Advocacy Programs. The Director of Advocacy will maintain the strategic vision of the organization’s programs; develop programmatic policies and procedures consistent with best practices; evaluate the effectiveness of services to achieve the vision; provide mentoring, guidance, and supervision to all programmatic staff and volunteers; and ensure all federal and state grant compliance is maintained. This position is the subject matter expert on Sexual Assault Programs and leads the development and growth of SARC programs.

    Program Development and Administration

    • Develop the goals, policies, and protocols of the Crisis Intervention and Advocacy programs including: case management, advocacy, crisis hotline, accompaniments, and case collaboration.
    • Oversee and manage the Crisis Intervention and Advocacy programs.
    • Review, update and maintain documentation, including hotline and accompaniment forms, releases, assessments, and surveys.
    • Maintain updated knowledge on standards for sexual assault advocacy and procedures.
    • Implement quality assurance measures consistently and effectively to analyze programmatic feedback and implement best practices for program and organization success.
    • Participate in committees and workgroups that further community relations with stakeholders and agencies assisting survivors of sexual assault.
    • Oversee and manage Sexual Assault Response Teams across all seven counties including state legislation and case coordination.
    • Coordinate the 24/7 hotline and accompaniment scheduling including Advocates, Advocates on Call, and Staff on Call rotation.
    • Provide training and education to community partners in responding to sexual assault.
    • Plan and manage programmatic budgets in coordination with the Executive Director.
    • Perform agency and program administrative and operational tasks, as needed.

    Program Staff and Volunteer Supervision

    • Interview, hire, and train all programmatic support staff.
    • Provide support to all programs through individual and group staff meetings.
    • Assist in the recruitment and retention of Sexual Assault Advocates.
    • Provide ongoing legislative and programmatic training to appropriate staff and advocates.
    • Assist Outreach Program with Advocate Training Program including preparation and delivery of material during assigned advocate training and continuing education training.

    Grant Management

    • Oversee grant contract compliance and required trainings for all staff.
    • Manage grant reporting requirements for grants including monthly, quarterly, and annual program reports.
    • Assist the Executive Director in managing appropriate applications, budgets, and reports for grants including relevant data for funding requests.
    • Maintain client database and grant dashboards on a routine basis.

    Intern Management

    • Recruit, hire, and maintain programmatic interns on a rotating basis.
    • Provide support and training to interns and work study staff regarding programmatic outcomes.
    • Ensure all interns adhere to SARC policies and procedures.

    Direct Client Services

    All SARC direct client service positions are required to provide client advocacy support and must attend the entire SARC Advocate Training Program certified by the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) immediately after hire.

    • Serve as a direct first responder to hospital, law enforcement, and court accompaniments; the crisis hotline; and walk-in clients as needed.
    • Serve as a backup to advocates on Staff on Call (SOC) on a rotating basis with other staff members.
    • Provide support and advice to SARC advocates and staff about individual case issues or problems that arise as clients navigate support services and/or the criminal justice system.
    • Provide client crisis intervention through advocacy and/or consultation, as needed.
    • Work closely with all agencies and professionals outside SARC who deliver services to sexual assault survivors to coordinate efforts, refine the community approach, and improve client treatment through all systems.

    Other Job Responsibilities

    • Assist in program development as requested.
    • Attend meetings as scheduled.
    • Assume other duties as assigned.
    • Attend continuing education (conferences, trainings, reading).

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Preferred: Master of Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or other related field five years of related experience.
    • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in affiliated field three years of related experience.
    • Applicants must pass a criminal background check and have valid driver’s license.
    • Possess leadership and supervisory skills to manage a growing team.
    • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and be proactive.
    • Excellent skills in program development and evaluation.
    • Maintain confidentiality of information.
