Primary Function:

Manage the manufacturing material flow of the assigned functions using MRP and other available tools for planning. This includes releasing the orders for manufactured parts and reviewing kanban quantities in order to maintain customer delivery schedules.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan and release manufacturing work orders and kanban orders for manufactured parts.

• Assist shop supervisor in monitoring material flow, adjusting item master parameters, and verifying transaction accuracy.

• Release work orders to foundry and machine shop as needed to cover global short falls.

• Maintain accuracy and integrity within the planning system.

• Assist shop supervisors with setting priorities to maintain 95% delivery performance for assigned areas.

• Rescheduling and expediting parts as needed.

• Assist customer service with expediting and delivery inquiries.

• Act as backup for other planner/schedulers or other department personnel as required.

• Monitor and help reduce inventory levels in assigned areas.

• Maintain a material shortage report for assigned areas. This includes checking on and expediting components as needed working with shop supervisors and purchasing buyers.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• High School diploma or equivalent and two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• A good understanding of material flow through the shop and lean manufacturing.

• Must have good organizational and communication skills.

• Must have a good working knowledge of planning BOM’s and an understanding of material planning in this environment or be willing to gain this knowledge.

• Have a good working knowledge of JDE and its material planning functions or be able to learn this skill in a timely manner.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

• Proficient with Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Must be able to work in manufacturing systems.

WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to move within office and manufacturing complex, write by hand and keyboard, and perform general office functions.

• Ability to communicate by speech and hearing via phone and in person.

• Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use.

• General manufacturing, warehouse and office environment.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

• Must have the ability to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers and all levels of corporate and company personnel.
