Member Certification Specialist coordinates the certification and credentialing programs of a professional or membership organization. Participates in the development of standards and the creation of testing materials. Being a Member Certification Specialist maintains and monitors a test scheduling system or database. Organizes resources to implement testing schedules and sessions, including locations, testers, technology, and materials. Additionally, Member Certification Specialist assists members with information about programs and resolves any issues with the process. Interfaces with and monitors outside testing providers. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Member Certification Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     • Advises R&D and brand managers on various product certification standards, including organic and bioengineered regulatory requirements, throughout new product development and formula changes.
    • Manages enrollment of new products to certification programs.
    • Participates in supplier/ingredient qualification to ensure compliance with NOW Foods’ internal non-GMO assured and Bioengineered regulatory requirements.
    • Updates records for Organic, Non-GMO Project, Kosher, Halal, and other product certifications during supplier quality new ingredient approval.
    • Coordinates specification changes for product certification requirements specific to lot numbers.
    • Collects annual compliance documents from suppliers, such as organic certificates, non-GMO Project certificates, and certification bodies affidavits.
    • Ensures submission of the latest label versions to certifiers and confirms adherence to organic labeling requirements and non-GMO status.
    • Modifies product certification records with the applicable NOW Foods’ production facility location.
    • Collaborates with contract manufacturers and co-packers for NOW Foods’ product certification enrollment.
    • Coordinates product testing if required by specifications for product certifications.
    • Monitors manufacturing process changes, updating organic records to confirm compliance.
    • Updates product certification SOPs and reviews relevant manufacturing SOPs.
    • Completes annual renewals with certification bodies.
    • Hosts annual Organic, Kosher, and Halal audits.
    • Conducts annual non-GMO Project records audit and internal product certification audits.
    • Resolves audit non-conformances in timely manner, implementing corrections or corrective actions.
    • Tracks revisions to certification bodies’ standards, organic, and bioengineered regulations affecting NOW Health Group products, and implements applicable process changes.
    • Revises individual product certification tracker sheet, adding new products, removing discontinued products, and updating compliance status.
    • Keeps Non-GMO product metrics for marketing department.
    • Administers product certification claims through Oracle.
    • Provides completed forms and statements regarding product certification to the sales department.
    • Collaborates with account managers to enroll private-label customer products into the product certifications program.
    • Ensures compliance with all safety and GMP requirements.

Reports ALL workplace incidents to supervisor immediately. Communicates concerns to supervisor, reports hazards, and provides input on prevention. Properly uses, wears, and stores Personal Protective Equipment when required. Participates on safety teams and/or completes safety-related activities as part of regular job responsibilities.


    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or equivalent from four-year college or technical school in food science, chemistry, physics or related field, and a minimum of three years quality-related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Preferred experience in quality assurance at a food or dietary supplement company working with product certifications and managing their compliance.
    • Strong computer skills required, including intermediate level of proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
    • General understanding of the concepts involved in quality control/assurance and food safety and the ability to relate these concepts to any problems that arise.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional and scientific journals, legal documents, and regulatory updates and/or certification standards.


    COMPETENCIES

    • Ability to organize workload and multi-task to ensure all tasks are completed on time.
    • Intermediate experience with electronic documentation management system software is preferred.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak and write effectively.
    • Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as interpret general technical procedures, legal and/or governmental regulations.
    • Ability to learn quickly, work independently, and assume responsibility for new tasks in a rapidly growing and changing company.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Self-starter and be able to handle multiple tasks, and able to communicate and work with others to complete assigned tasks.
