Member Services Director directs and coordinates all aspects of the health maintenance organization (HMO) member services department. Plans and directs policies and objectives for addressing member inquiries. Being a Member Services Director establishes service quality goals for the department and implements strategies to meet these goals. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Member Services Director typically reports to top management. The Member Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function.     Job Summary
    • This position plans, designs, organizes, operates, administers and supervises agency nursing services for persons with intellectual disabilities. Position requires being on call.
    Essential Functions
    • Directs and administers agency nursing services; ensures compliance with Alabama Board of Nursing, Nurse Practice Act, and Alabama Department of Mental Health Delegation Program requirements; reports deviations to the Associate Executive Director of Support Services and other authority; prepares for, assists in, and responds to recommendations resulting from various facility and site reviews; submits regular and special reports to agency management, local groups, and state agencies.
    • Coordinates services with other agency Directors and maintains contact with counterparts at other service providers to discuss matters of mutual concern or actual or potential effects upon the agency.
    • Manages the effective delivery of nursing services to individuals in day and residential programs; ensures that individuals' medical needs are addressed; completes comprehensive nursing assessments and evaluations on each individual receiving services upon admission, after a change in status, and annually; formulates nursing care plans for individuals receiving residential services.
    • Orders medical equipment and supplies; monitors purchases to ensure compliance with budget.
    • Directs the maintenance of required nursing/medical documents and records for persons served; reviews documents to ensure accuracy and completeness; reviews individual data to prepare statistical reports.
    • Serves as a resource to agency personnel in the area of health and safety; serves on the Safety Committee, Behavior Committee and the Incident Review Committee; provides First Aid certification and CPR training (maintain certification as CPR, First Aid Instructor); provides Medication Administration Certification (MAC) training (maintains MAS and MATT Certification); and ensures nurses maintain related certifications; provides in-service training to staff in medication dispensation, recognizing the signs and symptoms of illnesses, seizure management, the effects of common medication, blood borne pathogens, universal precautions, and medication monitoring.
    • Attends and participates in required meetings to maintain certification and ensure professional growth; attends in-service training to retain certification and licensure; attends staff meetings.
    • Communicates and coordinates with physicians and pharmacists to ensure continuity of care for individuals served.
    • Maintains Certification in CPI, MATT and as a CPR, First Aid Instructors
    • Performs other duties and responsibilities deemed necessary; not otherwise specified.

    • Contacts are typically with nurses, coworkers, other agency employees, individuals served, physicians, pharmacists, and members of the general public.
    • Contacts are typically to exchange information, motivate persons, negotiate matters, resolve problems, and provide services.
    Physical Demands/Work Environment

    • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
    • The work is typically performed in an office. The employee may be exposed to contagious or infectious diseases. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.
    Supervisor Responsibility
    • This position has direct supervision over Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses (4).
    Minimum Qualifications
    • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
    • Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience. Certification as a Registered Nurse by the State Board of Nursing.
    • Possession of a valid driver's license and good driving record.
