Member Services Manager is responsible for daily activities in the member services function for a health plan or health maintenance organization (HMO). Collects data on member inquiries and service requests and conducts analysis to identify trends and recommend solutions. Being a Member Services Manager ensures service representatives follow established policies for addressing member inquiries and meet service quality goals. Manages the recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management of staff. Additionally, Member Services Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of unit/department. The Member Services Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. POSITION SUMMARY:
Delivers excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants. Responds to member and guest needs, promotes memberships and programs, and maintains cleanliness and organization of the lobby area. In addition, every position in the YMCA of East Tennessee is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the Y’s core values - caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
CORE FUNCTIONS:
1. Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
2. Conduct interviews and/or tours responsive to the needs of prospective members; sells memberships.
3. Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and the YMCA.
4. Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
5. Proficient in DAXKO operations including but not limited to; membership and program registrations.
6. Proficient in Daxko Engage, including but not limited to; logging conversations with members each shift, utilizing and completing tasks, etc.
7. Proficient in SmartStart scheduling.
8. Follows all Y policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
9. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
There are no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
There are no education requirements. Need to have excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Experience in multitasking is essential.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to outdoor weather. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Must be able to preform within this environment.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Frequently required to talk or hear. Required to stand, walk, sit and use hands and fingers. Vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of members or employees of the organization.
