Member Services Representative addresses member inquiries, questions and concerns in all areas including enrollment, claims, benefit interpretation, and referrals/authorizations for medical care. Responsible for receiving, responding to, and directing member phone calls, or written questions. Being a Member Services Representative provides available information upon request and researches or escalates issues as appropriate. Maintains confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines. Additionally, Member Services Representative requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
1. Perform and provide excellent customer service skills by exceeding member expectations.
Consistently stand and greet every person who enters the YMCA (by name) and recognize all members and guests when they leave.
2. Engage in Listen First with members, in order to build relationships. Takes the initiative to ensure all members have a positive experience.
3. Tour prospective members: sell and process memberships
4. Be familiar with the mission statement and core values of the YMCA. Model the core values while you are employed with the Y.
5. Always have a friendly, helpful attitude.
6. Actively listen, reflect and respond to customer questions and concerns in a caring manner.
7. When the opportunity presents itself, go above and beyond to resolve the situation immediately.
8. Inform supervisor of unusual or unresolved issues.
9. Maintain an organized front desk and a clean and safe YMCA.
10. Be dressed in appropriate attire and wear name tag at all times.
11. Attend and remain current on all mandatory trainings and monthly staff meetings.
12. Assume other responsibilities as deemed appropriate by Supervisors.
13. Apply and follow all YMCA policies dealing with Member Services.
14. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic backgrounds
15. Ability to multitask on a regular basis.
16. Handle sensitive information, facility security and money in a responsible and mature manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Pursuing High School education or GED.
2. Basic computer skills, including word, excel.
3. Basic Math competency.
4. High degree of professionalism.
5. Certifications required within 30 days of hire or first available training: CPR/First Aid,
6. YMCA New Employee Orientation.
7. Effective time management.
8. Physical ability to stand and walk for extensive periods of time, as well as the ability to lift at least 30 pounds.
